Contact us

The New England Intercollegiate Fencing Conference (NEIFC) is focused on supporting and developing intercollegiate fencing programs in and around New England. We welcome both club teams and NCAA varsity teams into our conference.

NEIFC Events

Fencers representing member institutions compete in this individual elimination-style tournament.

Team, squad, and individual champions are crowned.

NEIFC Athlete Eligibility

NEIFC events are open to full-time undergraduate students of NEIFC member schools in good standing.

Students have four (4) years of eligibility for NEIFC events which must be completed within five (5) years of first enrolling in college.

Teams may submit written appeals to have individuals considered "eligible to compete" if their circumstances fall outside the stated requirements. All appeals must be submitted in a timely manner to the NEIFC executive committee, whose rulings on the appeals shall be final.

If you wish for your team to join the NEIFC, please email info@NEIFC.org.

NEIFC Championships Policy on Mixed-Gender Teams

Adopted Feb 2, 2020.

A team that does not have enough fencers to field a full men's or women's team may enter the NEIFC Championships with one mixed-gender team, which must compete in the men's event.

NEIFC Policy on Transgender and Transitioning Athletes

Adopted Sep 6, 2018.

A student transitioning from female to male may elect to fence on a school's men's squad, given they have not already competed on a women's squad during the current NEIFC season. The student may continue to fence for a women's squad if they have not begun hormone treatment.

A student transitioning from male to female must complete one calendar year of hormone treatment before the start of the NEIFC season in order to compete on a women's squad that season.

The season shall be considered to start on the date of the NEIFC Fall Invitational (The Big One), and shall be considered concluded the date after the date of the NEIFC Championships of the same academic year

This policy is based on that of the 2011 NCAA Inclusion of Transgender Student Athletes publication. (https://www.ncaa.org/sites/default/files/Transgender_Handbook_2011_Final.pdf)
